With an average of 300 shows a year and over 20,000 spectators in its two small 70- and 100-seat auditoriums, La Chouc' remains one of Strasbourg's cultural hotspots. French, German and Alsatian, all styles come together in this theater. Concerts, comedy, cabaret and improv theater are on offer every season. It's a charming little downtown theater.

The brand new Maillon, which will open in 2019, includes two large rooms, one of which has 700 seats, administrative premises, logistics areas, but also reception areas with a bar restaurant and an inner courtyard. The Italian architect Umberto Napolitano included open and modular spaces to preserve the spirit of the past. This 6,700 ^m2 building allows the "theatre machine" to go further and reach new audiences. As for the programming, it is always very diversified, for all audiences and all styles, and resolutely open to the world with artists from all over the world.

It is a French exception since it is the only national theatre in the regions and one of the two national higher schools for professional training in the dramatic arts. The theatre has two halls: the Salle Koltès and the Salle Hubert Gignoux where contemporary shows are performed. The Strasbourg National Theatre also offers a fine programme of conferences and various events, some of which are sometimes offered free of charge.

The Taps is the showcase of contemporary theatre. Since 2002, this municipal structure, spread over several sites - two halls from Scala to Neudorf, and another at the Dairy - has been offering many French and foreign creations each season. Sometimes demanding, sometimes zany, the shows, performed by professionals unknown to the general public, are varied and address different themes, each time reserving their share of surprises and emotions.
