Strait located between Olkhon Island and the western shore, Maloïe More, is 76 km long, 17 m wide (4 m south) and 200 m deep. This is the most popular region of Baikal because the water is fabulously warm (up to 24°C in summer). Fishing is miraculous, the landscapes are enchanting and flowery, abundant in rare plant species. Russian and Siberian tourists like to spend their holidays here. For a few years now, these dream beaches have been the prerogative of tourbaza (large private holiday centres) and holiday villages. This is the case in Kulkut, located just before the landing stage for the island of Olkhon in an exceptional environment. Tropical turquoise waters, breathtaking steppe landscape: a small Siberian paradise despite the buildings.
