Traditional jousting, beauty contests and yurt building competitions await you at the biggest party in Tuva.
The most important Tuva festival, known as the ploughmen's festival, celebrated in a season of plenty. People come from the depths of the republic to take part in these jousts: wrestling (khourech, a national sport; many Tuva athletes are also Sumo champions), horse racing, archery, yurt assembly, harnessing and beauty contests. Coupled every two years with the International Throat Singing Festival (the khöömii; Хоомей в Центре Азии).
