The boat passes through the old villages of Verkhneimbatsk and Kellogg, located on the river Yelloguy where the Kètes live, also known as the Ostyaks of the Yenisey. It is a small Aboriginal population (20 000!) living between Igarka and Ienisseïsk. The Kètes de Touroukhansk are the last representatives of the former Paléoasiatiques tribes who settled on the shores of the Affluents tributaries. Near Kellogg, the landscape changes considerably. The banks become more désertes and the taiga more dense. We're moving toward forest-tundra and tundra. The word «tundra», of Finnish origin, generally applies to the Arctic margin without trees; it extends along the Arctic coast where mosses and lichens dominate. The climate environment is characterized by extreme severity.
