New Year's Day in Khakassie Republic is traditionally celebrated at the spring equinox, the start of the agricultural season. Budding ethnologists should be aware that this is the only opportunity to attend native celebrations and rituals preciously transmitted since time immemorial. The Khakasse cultural identity, in full renewal and now well asserted, defends its gastronomy, local drinks (khan talgan, ayran), traditional sports, shamanic beliefs, dances, crafts, etc. A must if you're in the area!
