Its main industries are the weaving factory, the beurrerie, the butchery.The name of Kalatchinsk comes from the word "kalatch". It's that the Om, in this place, bends like a fast bow, and this meander, in a Russian dialect, is called "kalatch." The first inhabitants of this former village, founded in 1837, were peasants from the Volga.
