Omsk, with 1.178 million inhabitants, is the second largest city in Siberia after Ekaterinburg. Although its historic centre is already very large, concentrated around the confluence of the rivers Irtysh and Om, the city is sprawling. However, it is a city that is a pleasure to stroll around and discover a thousand and one wonders - it stands out as a cultural megalopolis. Its dramatic art theatre, founded in 1874, is one of the oldest in the country. Other stages, museums, and a varied architectural heritage: lively and flamboyant Orthodox buildings (Assumption Cathedral with its impressive golden dome), all-wooden mansions from the early 20th century, classical arteries (Lenina Street) and fantastic relics from the Soviet era.
