Moundou is the second largest economic city in Chad. It was founded in 1924 by the administrator Remains (future Governor General of French Equatorial-Equatorial) who, from the whaling on which he descended the Logone, found the site pretty. The creation of the Logone region was delayed by disputes relating to the sharing of the zone between Germany (to whom it was assigned in 1911) and France (which took it after the First World War). But the town owes its town planning to Mallarme administrator (called Baoguel, "Gaucher", in language n'gambaye). In particular, he planted the flamboyant with the magnificent flowers (from February to May) which border the aisles. They are the origin of the city's nickname during the colonial period: Moundou the Red.Moundou then pushed as a mushroom during the Second World War and turned to industry entirely: it has been equipped with a plant, a brewery, a power plant, a cotton plant and a cigarette factory. There was even a draft railway line with northern Cameroon… Moundou is also known for being the stronghold of Gabriel Lisette, the instigator of independence with François Tombalbaye; the latter will quickly remove Lisette from power and morcellera the Logone in two parts, Western and Eastern, to avoid any from his supporters. In the past, the major streets of the city were cunning commerçants traders, outfits of pyrogravées pyrogravées, kitchen batteries spread out on the ground, tanks filled with doughnuts, bouillie or milk, vegetable pyramids and fresh fruit, including cashew nuts still attached to their apples.Customers, busy doing the best possible business, swam from stand stand, searched the goods and fiercely discussed prices, while des-brousse drivers were hélaient the travellers they piling into their vehicle, between the benne. plastic kettles, onions of onions, vêtements and screams sheep…Nowadays, the streets of sand have become paved lanes where merchants have official storefronts and small local restaurants have replaced most sellers of itinerant food… Regular carriers, with private stations, have appeared: Comfortable buses (compared to 4 x 4 vehicles and 17-seat minibuses) connect Moundou to the capital and large cities in the south.30 km northwest of Moundou is Deli, which once owned a farm in the Department of agriculture specialising in entomologie and plant parasitology. The farm also had magnificent citrus plantations, which are now, unfortunately, abandoned…
