The best accommodations Al-Hamra

Located opposite Bait Aljabal, in the heart of the old village with its mud houses, this recently-opened traditional home has 6 rooms for rent. Like its neighbor, it has been restored in keeping with local architecture, and its cob walls and wooden ceilings have been preserved. However, no attempt has been made to decorate the house. No matter, we've come for the experience! There's no restaurant on site, so make a reservation next door! From the pretty roof terrace, you can enjoy views over the old village and the oasis.

In the heart of the old village, not far from the Bait Al Safah museum, or in the cool gardens of the nearby palm grove, you'll find a number of old houses that have been entirely restored in keeping with their original architecture: adobe walls, old ceilings, small windows and magnificent wooden doors. It's an opportunity to experience Oman as it was in days gone by, in an authentic, unspoilt environment. Comfortable rooms with shared or private bathroom facilities, on-site restaurant.

In the modern part of the village of Al Hamra, Ahmed and his family welcome guests on the first floor of their own house, where they have set up 3 bedrooms - 2 with two single beds and a family room for 4. The simplicity of the setting doesn't detract from the modern comforts: free wifi, air conditioning, private bathroom and mini-fridge in every room. This is the Oman of today, not an old-fashioned guesthouse. In the end, we'll remember Ahmed's kindness and the convenient location rather than the neon lights above the bed! In the heart of the ruins of the old village of Al Hamra, here's a lovely address. This old family home, built of clay some 300 years ago, has been remarkably restored and since 2022 has offered a handful of double or family rooms, all air-conditioned and decorated in a sober but well-appointed style. Some rooms share a bathroom, while others have a private one - please enquire when booking. A detail that's rare enough to be worth mentioning: breakfast is very copious, with fruit, cheese and even pastries!

Thanks to Mohammed, the adorable owner, this one has benefited from meticulous renovation and charming decoration. It offers a bedroom large enough to accommodate 4 people, an outdoor kitchen, 2 bathrooms, several terraces... The superb garden, with its many species of flowers, features a freshwater swimming pool fed by a falaj. A real treat!
