Barka is the only town that hosts bull fights. Bullfights usually take place twice a month, on Friday afternoons, except during the summer and Ramadan. For dates and times, the easiest way to find out is to ask the locals. The city is especially lively in the morning during the fish market at the seaside, in front of the fort and next to the souk. Barka is also known for its Halwa factory, an Omani confectionery made from rose water, cardamom and saffron, but the main attraction is the Baït Na'Man castle, an imposing 17th century fortified merchant's house that served as a caravanserai.
