Bedouin market and stronghold of ancient times, Al Mintarib is today set back from the tarred axis on the dunes side. On the maps, its location is made difficult by the development of a large neighbouring town around the road junction and the petrol pump, Bidiyah, which is easy to spot. If the latter hamlet is of only functional interest (refuelling and shopping), Al Mintarib has more attractions and makes the effort of a semblance of a town centre with a rest house, a citadel and a small museum where are gathered some witnesses of the past time - clothes, weapons, everyday objects...
