In this traditional town, Joma stands out for its fresh, young style - even if, when we visited, the terrace was occupied by old-timers in Omani garb! Well placed right next to the lagoon, the café enjoys a pleasant view of the watchtowers, the ochre-coloured rocky promontories and the constant ballet of boats. Simple, it consists of a pretty white little house with a cluster of fuchsia flowers that doubles as a counter. Scan the drinks menu, make your selection and take a seat at one of the open-air tables.

It's not crazy, but it's a pleasant place, especially in the evening when it's mild. All in all, it's probably the nicest place in town to have a drink and smoke a shisha. We are outdoors, on a terrace by the lagoon: from the space, the light lapping of a fountain, scrolls flavoured with apple, mint or cherry... Tourists mingle with the locals, especially men, dressed in their traditional costumes and come there to talk, smoke or watch football... This is Sur, a conservative town. Local atmosphere.
