The first fortification at the mouth of the Lima River, whose current polygon shape was created during the Spanish domination.

This first fortification, located at the mouth of the Rio Lima, was built in the 15th century during the reign of Afonso III. It was later modified, as suggested by the Manueline aspect of the Torre da Roqueta (Rocket Tower). Its current polygon shape was built under Spanish rule during the reign of Philip I. The open-air tour is quick but offers a nice little panorama and invites you to imagine.
