Museum to learn more about the history of the region and to discover the Douro and its wine tradition.
It's a good place to start if you want to know what port wine is and learn more about the region's history. After passing through the temporary exhibits, there's a huge room devoted to the Douro and its winemaking tradition. Upstairs, a small interactive circuit introduces visitors to the smells and names of port wine. The tour ends with a tasting in a bright room overlooking the river.
To find out more, visit one of the cellars where port wine is aged before bottling, in Porto itself.
