This museum located in the Casa Nobre dos Castelo Branco houses many tapestries of contemporary style.
Located in the Casa Nobre dos Castelo Branco, a beautiful 18th-century quinta, this museum is one of a kind. Contemporary tapestries, from the middle of the last century to the present day, are the products of this craftsmanship, making for a dizzying array of over 5,000 colors. The Manufacture is still in operation, but can only be visited by prior arrangement. In the 16th century, Portalegre tapestries were world-renowned. Based on a unique technique, their manufacture is long and delicate, which no doubt explains why they sell for such a high price.
