If it appears first as a museum-city, perhaps the most beautiful in Portugal, Évora is also a great university city and the center of an agricultural and industrial region. Listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, its name comes from the Celtic word eburos which means "yew". All the history of Portugal can be read in the walls of its Roman temple, its Moorish patios, its medieval walls, its Renaissance palace... Today, Évora is a delightful and harmonious city, like the Praça do Giraldo with its elegant arcades, closed with majesty by the Santo Antão church. It is a long and pleasant walk!
