In the heart of the Alentejano Southwest Natural Park, this fishing village draws its discreet charm from the Mira River estuary that runs through it, but also from the alignment of its immaculate houses. In the historic center, you'll find the Mother Church, the fortress, built in the 17th century to resist pirate attacks, and the Cabo Sardão lighthouse. On the shore, a small shell-shaped cove opens out to the west, offering magnificent sunsets. The municipality boasts some very fine sandy beaches, the famous Costa Vicentina beaches, quiet and relatively unspoilt: they're what the area is famous for.
