Approximately 5,000 inhabitants. Its name, given by the Arabs, comes from the union of the two rivers Alcôa and Baça. Not far from the thermal baths of Piedade, this small middle-class town lives around its monastery founded by the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, nationally known and classified as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. By car, take the N8 from Caldas da Rainha to the south of Batahla. Nazaré and the coast are only 10 km away. Also, the A8 (Lisbon-Leiria) is only a few kilometres away. By IC9, in less than 20 minutes, you will reach Tomar or Batalha. By train, the station is connected to the Figueira da Foz-Leiria-Cacém line (on the outskirts of Lisbon). Daily trains
