It says here that "all roads lead to Leiria". At the top of the rocky mountain, the castle, a former royal palace, dominates the city. It was built at the foot of this hill bordered by the river Lis, on the basis of the medieval structure ordered by the Direita street and the old Jewish quarter near the cathedral. Despite its sad contemporary architecture, it is today a dynamic city, close to some of the natural and cultural splendours of the region. We will spend a half-day at most to have a traditional meal in the city centre for example, but we won't stop there any longer.
