In Gikongoro province, tea is grown in abundance. Several thousand tons of tea are produced each year. Coffee cooperatives and processing plants are also present. The climatic conditions and the altitude allow for the production of high quality coffee and tea. However, there is not much to see in the former capital of the province of the same name, except for the Murambi memorial. During the genocide, the massacres in this area were very intense, and also the fastest to start. The city has developed well, and is more relaxed and smiling than before
