Less crowded than neighboring Arromanches, the seaside resort of Asnelles has a wilder character. Its large sandy beach, a paradise for sand yachts, saw the British land at 7:25 a.m. on June 6, 1944, the first British regiment to set foot in Normandy that day! The war has somewhat disfigured "Asnelles-la-Belle-Plage", as it was known in the Belle Époque, when its villas and casino gave it the air of a little Trouville. A stroll through the village follows in Guillaume's footsteps along the Sente au Bâtard, with its Creully stone houses. And don't miss Asnelles-la-Gourmande!
