11 km west of Sesimbra. If Cabo da Roca is the westernmost tip of Europe, Cabo Espichel seems to be the end of the world. Sparse vegetation, torn cliffs overhanging the sea, and that strange gleaming light shrouding the mystery of Nossa Senhora do Cabo and its long rectangular square, framed by arcaded houses, and, at the end, a stone cross. Not far away is the Ermida da Memória. On this desolate, windswept headland stands a 200-year-old lighthouse that can be visited. You'll see some of the machinery of yesteryear. There is a tourist office from late June to early September, avenida 25 de Abril, EN 379.
