Located at the bottom of the Arrábida mountain range, Sesimbra has been an active fishing port since the 15th century. Even if the fish are less and less often seen drying, the city remains dedicated to fishing and to summer and weekend tourism, taking advantage of all the assets of the ocean. The presence of two fishing ports (fish market), with stalls of fishmongers, boats and colorful trawlers, attest to the still quite artisanal activity in this small town. You can visit the Fortaleza de Santiago or its maritime museum. The tourist office, rua da Fortaleza, is open from Monday to Friday (www.visitsesimbra.pt).
