Setúbal is the3rd largest fishing port in the country, a harbor, working and industrial city. For a long time neglected, it comes back to life today because it is located at the crossroads of unmissable places. It is therefore an interesting stopover for those who continue their journey towards the Alentejo and the Algarve, but also for those who would like to reach the Tróia peninsula (south of Setúbal) by crossing the River Sado (where a large dolphin colony lives), or who would like to explore the Arrábida Natural Park (west of the city). The atmosphere at the port and in the old commercial city is very pleasant, especially on Saturday, market day. Nights in the city are quite quiet during the week, but on weekends many bars and restaurants on the port, as well as at the end of Avenida Luisa Todi, come alive again. On Sundays, there is also a lot of atmosphere during the home matches of Vitória Futebol Club, winner of the Portuguese Football League Cup in 2008. On the gastronomy side, Setúbal is not to be outdone with fish, shellfish and crustaceans, and the famous tortas de Azeitão (a rolled cake with fluted egg cream) - not forgetting its very good muscatel wine, the Moscatel de Setúbal - herald the colour. The bay of Setúbal is full of natural wonders to discover. Of course, one of the best known is the Serra de Arrábida, but you can also cross the estuary to walk along the footpaths or observe the dolphin colony that lives in the estuary.
