Valkenberg is a park in Breda that owes its name to a falconry that once stood on the edge of the forest
Valkenberg (Falcon Mountain) is a park in Breda, named after a falconry that once stood on the edge of the forest. The great entertainment of the lords was to hunt falcons. The peaceful park is the green lung of Breda in the city center. At the entrance of the park, a monument reminds us of the origins of the House of Orange-Nassau, whose emblem is the lion (at the top) and the marriage in 1405 of the German Count Engelbrecht of Nassau with the daughter of the Lord of Breda. The monument was inaugurated in 1905 by Queen Wilhelmina.
