ALDENHOFPARK AND STATUE OF D'ARTAGNAN

In a very nice park, there is a nice statue of d'Artagnan, who died in Maastricht on June 25, 1673, hit by a musket ball in the throat, while fighting on a day of rest. The city even organized a D'Artagnan festival in 2003. On the statue, designed by Alexander Taratynov, are the words that Louis XIV wrote to the queen upon learning of his death: "Madame, I have just lost D'Artagnan in whom I had the greatest confidence.
