Church that still celebrates mass in Latin and hosts impromptu and non-promptu concerts in Amsterdam
This church was built on the remains of an underground church dating back to the 17th century. The present neo-Gothic church was built between 1881 and 1883, and its rich interior, splendid stained-glass windows and superb statues are impressive. This Jesuit parish church still celebrates mass in Latin, and sometimes hosts concerts, impromptu or otherwise. Just a stone's throw from the flower market and pedestrian streets, this is a haven of peace not to be missed. The atmosphere is truly unique, just a stone's throw from the Spui literary square.
