BIKE CITY

Bike rental
5/5
2 reviews

Bike City is one of the best options for renting a bike in Amsterdam. Located at the entrance of the Jordaan, a few blocks from the Central Station, it is a charming store on the Bloemgracht (Flower Canal). The bikes are of very good quality, fully equipped; and several choices are proposed: notably for the braking system (back-pedaling or rim brakes). Note that this is one of the few agencies in the city to offer unmarked bikes, which will allow you to visit the city while blending in with the local population.

TAXI ELECTRIC

Taxi and VTC

This company was the first in Europe to implement the concept of electrically-powered cabs, a success story that has since been replicated in many other countries. Cab Electric offers services that are both ecological and economical: the cost of a trip, powered by electricity, is thus reduced (25% less!), and therefore more competitive than those of all "classic" cab companies, while at the same time being very clean for the environment, which fits in perfectly with the green mentality of Amsterdam and its countless bicycles.

AÉROPORT DE SCHIPHOL

Airline and services
4/5
6 reviews

Located 3 meters below sea level, Schiphol is a pleasant airport from which to travel. It offers a range of practical services (tourist office, Holland Tourist Information, currency exchange open from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.) and even a branch of the Rijksmuseum! In recent years, staff shortages have scratched the airline's image, but the problem seems to have been solved with wage increases for baggage handlers. It is expected to limit its night flights and jets by 2026.

CENTRAAL STATION

Railway station
4/5
5 reviews

Amsterdam's Cuypers-designed central station, like the Rijksmuseum, serves all the country's major tourist cities. Rotterdam, Utrecht, Maastricht, beautiful Delft, The Hague and other nearby towns. Rotations are very frequent and punctual trains drop you off at the city gates. Fares are high. The station has just inaugurated two superb and incredible underground bike parks, which should be visited even without a bike. The experience is insane and shows that when it comes to mobility, the Netherlands is king.

RE-CYCLE

Getting around by bike

An ideal address for all your bike problems, ideal also for investing in a second-hand model. Recycle distinguishes itself in the repair and renovation of old bicycles and prides itself on being a "social" employer that appeals to the long-term unemployed and offers them a new entry into the labour market. The setting alone, in the heart of the new De Hallen centre, is worth the trip. A typical address in Amsterdam, interesting for several reasons. Feel free to have a drink at the Hallen just across the street!
