A vast empty plain, except for one or two kopjes, otherwise nothing but the railway station, in the middle of nowhere, which made the fortune of a clever Scotsman. A railroad employee, Jimmy Logan opened a restaurant and air-conditioning station by the railroad tracks at age 27. Ten years later he was a millionaire, a member of parliament and the owner of all the refreshment outlets between Cape Town and Bulawayo. When he died in 1920, Matjiesfontein station was abandoned. At the end of the 1960s, a businessman decided to restore the climate station to its former glory. A seductive ghost city atmosphere where many ghosts walk around the houses.
