From the 1851 border crossing to the west of the Magaliesberg, there is hardly anything left. Rustenburg is still honouring the young Paul Kruger. Kruger Junior had a sacred character: in 1863, barely 16 years old, he bought a farm in the region. Like his father. Today, Rustenburg is an important agricultural centre (corn, tobacco, and a mining centre). The world's two largest platinum mines are close to this city, which in 2006 came to us in full development. In the suburbs, an ultra-modern stadium awaits the crowds of the 2010 World Cup. Visit Boukenhoutfontein, the Kruger farm transformed into a museum (closed Monday and Sunday morning); to take the air, we will take a walk in the natural reserve which extends over 2 898 hectares of land sometimes steep in the southwest of the agglomeration. A 2-hour, 400-hour-long hiking tour of beautiful valley views, metres lower. Sun City is 40 minutes away.
