Union Buildings is the continent's largest and most impressive seat of government.
In 1910, Herbert Baker knew that he had to offer the new South African Union a seat of government worthy of its influence. He therefore designed a building inspired by the Acropolis in Athens. It is still the largest and most impressive seat of government on the continent. It was here, on 10 May 1994, that Nelson Mandela, President of the Republic, addressed the assembly of 45 Heads of State and a crowd of 100,000 South Africans: "Never, never again must this land experience oppression. Let freedom reign. May God bless Africa. »

Impressionnante bâtisse (ne se visite pas), très belle vue sur la ville depuis ce promontoire. Dans le jardin une immense statue de Nelson Mandela domine. Jardin d'une propreté exemplaire, en contraste avec la ville.

Huge and majestic presidential palace overlooking the city center of Pretoria. Easy access, lots of parking spaces. Very beautiful statue of Nelson Mandela. Beautiful park downstairs. The palace doesn't visit.

Siège du gouvernement, ce bâtiment en pierres rouges et en arc de cercle est très impressionnant. En contrebas se trouve un parc-jardin au centre duquel trône une immense statue de Mandela.

En revanche son jardin est un lien ouvert au public et un espace très agréable. La statue de Mandela est impressionnante de par sa taille. Un lieu incontournable à Prétoria, voire même le seul lieu à voir.
