Lang Cô beach, 70 km from Hué, is overlooked by the Hai Vân and Phu Gia passes. Its name is a distortion of the Vietnamese pronunciation Lang Co, " village of storks", who once came here to nest in large numbers. In the 19th century, Emperor Khai Dinh of the Nguyên dynasty described Lang Cô as an "earthly Eden". Miraculously, Lang Cô has long remained untouched by mass tourism. Passing travelers would stop at the top of the Col des Nuages to admire, from afar, the magnificent beach bordering a fishing village below. Nothing but the bay, surrounded by mountains and their lush rainforest, the immense white-sand beach, the sun and the blue sea. It's no coincidence that Lang Cô is on the list of 4 national tourist sites for priority development. It is a charming stopover on the road between Dà Nang and Huê. From Hué or Dà Nang, it's an easy train ride to Lang Cô station (3 km from the beach).Development projects are multiplying: tourist complexes, hotels, parks, fishing villages, golf courses... Will this little paradise on earth stay that way? The village now welcomes over a thousand visitors a day, and the site is already showing signs of deterioration. The coral reefs surrounding the island are also very rich. It's also a gastronomic stopover, with Hué specialities: rice with shellfish, fish soup, grilled oysters, rice pancakes with shrimps...
