Continuing north on National Road 14, after 185 km you reach the town of Pleiku, perched at an altitude of 785 m in the heart of the Central Highlands. During the war against the Americans, due to the passage of the Ho Chi Minh trail, the town was the strategic key between the North and the South of the country. Pleiku is today the administrative and economic capital of the province of Gia Lai (Vietnamese pronunciation of Jarai). Once a small bush town, it has undergone an accelerated metamorphosis that has transformed it into a city without charm, and - to top it all off in this part of the country once covered with the most beautiful forests of Indochina - deprived of trees and greenery
