Located in the south of Biscay, at the crossroads of the Guipúzcoa and Álava territories, the park, with an area of almost 6,000 hectares, extends into the highest area of Biscaye with its steep and rocky mountains. It is an unhoped-for terrain for climbers, climbers and sportsmen of all kinds. Many picnic spaces mark the park. Its highest summit, Mount Anboto, houses the cave of Mari, the mother divinity of Basque mythology. An old pilgrimage tradition continues to the sanctuary of San Antonio Abad and San Antonio de Padua.
