Capital of the province, administrative and economic center of the High Aragon, this city is also commercial and animated thanks to its small university. After its reconquest by Peter I in 1096, it became the capital of the kingdom of Aragon and reached its peak in the Middle Ages. From the time of its magnificence, the city preserves a beautiful Gothic cathedral, part of the palace of the kings of Aragon and the Mozarabic church of San Pedro el Viejo. Today, the city is worth a visit for its gastronomy, its animation and its heritage. It is also a very good starting point to travel around the region. On the occasion of the San Lorenzo festivities, at the beginning of August, one can enjoy the dances that take up a folkloric tradition from the 15th century.
