Located 9 km north of Sousse. The name of the city is related to the remains of a hammam of unidentified architecture to date. During the Roman period, the region of Hammam Sousse knew a prosperous agriculture whose lands will be abandoned following the invasion of the Vandals and their policy of scorched earth. Under the Arab dynasty of the Aghlabides, the core of the city was founded. El Ksar is then a small city surrounded by ramparts with a single gate. In 1857 the first map was drawn with 250 houses and the French protectorate was established in 1881. After independence, Hammam Sousse developed rapidly.
