Saint-Rémy-de-Blot has a population of 230. The parish church, called Saint-Rémy under the Ancien Régime, was a dependency of the Mozac abbey. It was a "prieuré simple", meaning a former priory (a small religious community) that was subsequently occupied only by a parish priest appointed by the abbot. No trace remains of the priory buildings, and the church was rebuilt in the neo-Romanesque style between 1869 and 1871. During the revolutionary period of the National Convention (1792-1795), the commune was named Blot-le-Rocher, after the Château-Rocher (11th-15th century) to the north of the village.
