Located inside Hong Kong Park, this charming museum is housed in the oldest colonial house in the territory, the Flagstaff House, built in 1846. She remained the residence of the Commander-in-Chief of the British forces until 1978. The permanent exhibition with tea theme shows an extraordinary collection of more than 600 teapots and objects dedicated to the tea ceremony. They date back to the West Pentecostal dynasty (1050-771 BC). We discover the different methods of preparing tea through ages. In the museum's small shop, tiny teapots, copies of old teapots and beautiful creations of contemporary artists are on sale, as well as art books on tea.

Pour la partie salon de thé et dégustation mon avis est très mitigé. Lors de ma première visite en 2005 j'avais beaucoup aimé. Mais j'y suis retourné il y a un an de ça et j'ai été très décu. Personnel débordé, pas aimable et qui ne prend même plus la peine de vous expliquer en détail la préparation du thé que vous avez choisi, ni son histoire / origine. C'est dommage car en 2005 j'avais apprécié ces explications. Peut-être que j'y suis allé un mauvais jour... Si je retente je corrigeerai mon avis ici en conséquence.
Si toutefois vous y allez, essayez les thé fleurs qui éclosent dans le verre au contact de l'eau. Très joli. Et bien évidement vous pouvez en acheter avant de repartir ! C'est un bon cadeau-souvenir, mais comme tout dans cet endroit, ce n'est pas donné.
