Shenzhen, south China's southern gate, symbolizes China's development and economic takeoff. Located on the south coast of Guangdong, the city houses the largest port in China and faces Daya Bay east and the mouth of the Pearl River west. The latter is a common border with Hong Kong.In 1979, Shenzhen was the first special economic zone (SEZ) open to foreign investment by Deng Xiaoping. She was the laboratory of the new economic opening policy of the 1980 s. The small border town well anchored in the region's millennium history has since become a perpetual megalopolis. Modernist buildings today are the prosperity of an industrial zone that radiates throughout Guangdong province.The region drains mainly western businessmen or hongkongers visiting their companies' factories scattered across the province. They often do nothing but lightning. At the tourist level, it would be a pity to dwell on it too long, given the much more interesting sites in the rest of Guangdong. The city and its surrounding area have a few attractions, but they are more geared to trips to local tourists.Shenzhen's history and charm have long disappeared to allow for a sprawling urban area. From a purely economic point of view, the gap is reduced from day to day between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The special economic zone is inherited from skyscrapers in the increasingly studied architecture, competing with their hongknail counterparts in terms of creativity, as evidenced by Kingkey's tower 100, high 439 meters and 100 stories.
