Network. The metro network developed considerably at the 2010 World Expo and became the largest in the world. 14 lines are now in service. It is one of Shanghai's most reliable public transport facilities: However, attention to peak hours (8:00 a. m. -9:30 p. m. and 5:00 p. m. -6:30 p. m.). Metro stations close between 22:30 and 5:30 a. m. weekends. The network is generally convenient, fast, and easy to access (the stations are marked "M" in red before the entries). Each stop is written in pinyin (transliteration in Latin letters of Chinese characters) with an ad in English at each station. This means of transport gives a good picture of this «billion» China when the traveler is swept away by human masses, regardless of the time of day. However, the system is well organized, and the ropes are impeccable.

Price. You can purchase ticket tickets at atms or at counters at each station. Fares cost 3 to 7 RMB depending on distance.
