A remarkable tower, rich in history, in Cagliari.
Accessible also from Via Santa Croce, it was built by the Pisans in 1307. Its name comes from the small stone elephant carved on its façade. Under Spanish rule, the heads of executed criminals were hung from the tower's portcullis. The practices having become less barbaric, in the 19th century, the tower was converted into a prison for political prisoners. Passing under the tower and taking the via Università, you pass along the university built at the end of the 18th century during the reign of Carlo Emanuele III.

Lors d'une petite visite de ville, passez par cette tour et levez la tête pour apercevoir le petit éléphant !!! ;-)
Nous avons été déçus par cette visite, peu à voir et sans grand intérêt
