BASILICA DI SAN SATURNINO

It is one of the oldest Christian monuments in Sardinia. The first structure dates from the 4th or^5th century and is said to have been built on the very spot where St Saturnin was martyred in 304. A dome was added to it in the Byzantine period. In the 11th century, the monks of Saint-Victor de Marseille gave it a Romano-Provençal appearance. Damaged by the bombings of the Second World War, it was extensively restored after the war.
