One wonders how Montaigne ended up in this tiny village On the road between Macomer and Santu Lussurgiu, isolated on the foothills of Monte Ferru, this village takes its name from the seven ancient fountains whose water had diuretic properties. In the heart of the village stands the charming 12th century church of San Leonardo. It was built in the Romanesque-Pisan style by the Knights of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, later the Order of Malta. Partially demolished, it was rebuilt in the 15th century. The Order of St. John also built a hospital and two convents in the 16th century, of which nothing remains
