Bosa is one of Sardinia's jewels. This small, historic town with its rich architectural heritage has a lot going for it. Its castle perched on a hill, the old town that backs onto it and the Temo river that divides the historic town from the old tanneries make it a pleasant center to visit. Preserved from anarchic real estate development by its hostile terrain and distance from the sea, it retains an unspoilt charm. Its isolation means that, apart from the tanneries, which have left behind a rather appreciable architectural heritage, the town has not really kept pace with industrial development. All in all, it radiates a very authentic atmosphere, with its picturesque alleyways contributing to the conviviality typical of old Southern Italian towns. Tourism blends harmoniously into local life. The sea is also nearby, at Bosa Marina, where you'll find a pretty beach and a Spanish tower. The wild, craggy surroundings give the impression that Bosa is a little bit alone in the world, stuck on its little coastal basin.
