Located around 1,400 km north of Perth and 80 km northeast of Tom Price, Karijini is the second largest national park in Western Australia. The park is home to the Hamersley Range and its stunning rocky contours. Here, everything seems out of proportion. Just park your car, walk 100 m and you'll find yourself in a canyon with waterfalls and an emerald-coloured natural pool... The gorges are spectacular and you're spoilt for choice. Fortescue Falls in Dales Gorge is our favorite. Nearby, the Fern Pool for a refreshing dip. Fit adventurers will love Hancock Gorge and its spider walk. The spectacular Hamersley Gorge, to the north-west of the park, is just 5 km from the road and offers great swimming and superb views. The Banyjima, Kurrama and Innawonga Aboriginal peoples have looked after this area for at least 20,000 years, using fire as their primary method of environmental management.
