A popular hike through the Puy de la Vache and Puy de Lassolas, the youngest volcanoes in the Chaîne des Puys.
This is one of the most popular hikes for Clermont-Ferrand residents and tourists alike. Formed 8,400 years ago, the puys de la Vache (1,167 m) and Lassolas (1,187 m) are the youngest volcanoes in the Chaîne des Puys. Start out in the quarry at the foot of Puy de la Vache, where volcanic bombs and slag still stand. Continue up hundreds of steps to the summit, then on to puy de Lassolas, before concentrating on the descent along the gleaming crater.
