Saint-Floret (300 inhabitants) has developed at the foot of its 13th century castle, built by the successors of René de Champeix. The walls and the towers that majestically overhang the village bring a very particular cachet to the surroundings. In the village, near the bridge which allows the main road to cross the river to reach the rock of the castle, you can see the old bridge of Pède (XVth c.), which shelters in its middle an oratory, containing itself a Virgin. This bridge is said to be miraculous since 1944 when Saint-Floret was bombed by the Germans: the only bomb that did not explode fell on this spot.
