In the heart of a basin of collapse, such as those of the Alsace plain or the Bassin basin, the name of the commune that occupies it, Saint-Dier-d'Auvergne is a village whose settlement seems very ancient. In Roman times, Saint-Dier was to be a step on the road from Billom to the south. The name of Saint-Dier probably derives from that of Saint Didier. For a few years, the village has been completely restored to offer the best balance between greenery and recognized architectural heritage. The th century fortified Romanesque church is a fine example of the faire-limagnais style, one of which will be noticed in the statues of Saint Roch and Saint Antoine. It is also necessary to stop at the town hall registered in Historical Monuments and its closed courtyard in which the office of the tourist Office is located. These are places of popular exhibitions. The illumination of this building is also to be seen.
