It was in this former prison, built in 1741, that Ned Kelly, a legendary outlaw and Australian hero, was executed.
Built in 1741, the former prison was used until 1929. In addition to the 134 prisoners who died by hanging within its walls, it was here that Ned Kelly, legendary outlaw and Australian hero, was executed in 1880. A sort of Australian Robin Hood, he lived from 1854 to 1880 and also killed a policeman... In fact, for those curious to learn more about him, there's a film dedicated to him, dating from 2003 and starring Orlando Bloom, among others. Several shows are presented, including some night tours.

Visite très intéressante qui permet de mieux comprendre l'histoire des Australiens et le but premier de l'île pour les colons. Le bâtiment est assez impressionnant en lui-même.
