Located 20 km southeast of Atherton, Heberton was founded in the 1880s following the discovery of significant gold deposits in Northern Great Creek. Today, the town retains many buildings dating from the late 19th century, particularly on the main street of Grace Street. In order to highlight its heritage, the municipality has organized walking tours starting from the Great Nothern Mine Site between 1 and 12 km to discover the mining past and the fauna and flora of the region. You can also opt for a trekking of several days with guide and mules to carry your luggage. Contact the tourist office.
